NCMBC Military Business Free Seminar
05/27/2008
As part of his effort to make the U.S. Military an economic engine for the 8th District, Congressman Robin Hayes (NC-8) is hosing an event with the North Carolina Business Center to assist local businesses with identifying and securing opportunities at Ft Bragg. In January, 2008, Congressman Hayes invited General Paul Dordal, USAF (ret), who is Executive Director, Fort Bragg/ Pope Air Force Base BRAC Regional Task Force to host several events around the 8th District to inform constituents about the economic transformation taking place with the Base Re-alignment and Closure (BRAC) process. A primary question that was brought to the forefront was, “How can my business actually obtain contracts from the government and/or the military now?” As a direct result from constituent’s feedback, Congressman Hayes is inviting Executive Director Scott Dorney and a team from the North Carolina Military Business Center to the 8th District for a second series of BRAC events.
This event will consist of a presentation that focuses on the technical aspects of doing business with the government, including a market overview, government purchase and contracting procedures, set-aside contracting programs and tools available to NC businesses to leverage the federal market. This event will then conclude with staff from the NC MBC providing hands-on assistance to firms in reviewing the federal Central Contractor Registry, updating business profiles and/or registering on the State’s MatchForce.org web portal that automatically matches NC businesses to federal business opportunities. In doing this, businesses can immediately start receiving information regarding current contracting opportunities and Requests for Proposals.
